Dutch DJ sensation Nicky Romero has lit up BBC Radio One with an earth-shattering debut on the Essential Mix. Romero the 23 year old producer from Amerongen in Holland is the brains behind big room monsters like Toulouse, Camorra and Generation 303. In recent times he has become acclaimed for his collaborations with French mentor, David Guetta, and if Wild One Two and Metropolis weren’t enough, the super pairing are back at it again as Romero previews their new ID collaboration with a sound reminiscent of Guetta and Afrojack’s Lunar perhaps. However, one of the highlights of the show, as on any Radio One offering, were the shittons of exclusives and unreleased tunes, including Romero and Swede Tim Berg aka Avicii’s long awaited NickTim, Sander Van Doorn’s gorgeous Inside with Mayaeni, as well as Romero’s own tune with Zroq, WTF, with massive wobbles that is set to drop on Romero’s new label, Protocol Recordings soon. Romero also gave fans many of his other acclaimed work, including Camorra, Se7en, his Titanium Remix as well as Slacking with Fedde Le Grand along with a stack of additional massive tunes. Overall, Romero certainly has sparked my Saturday morning, and so I urge you to give this mix a listen; you will not regret it. Enjoy.
