One can only assume that the plethora of world class Swedish must be the result of something unseemly in the water in Sweeden, and not many testify to this theory as well as John Dahlback. However, while the likes of Avicii and the Swedish House Mafia have become synonymous with a more commercially driven, progressive house sound, Dahlback remains one of the country’s absolute gems with his ability to create songs with almost any stylistic leaning. Soldier and Grunge illustrate his darker, Electro-driven sound, while Life and One Last Ride demonstrate a flare for uplifting euphoric, progressive house. However, his most recent production, just released on Spinnin’ Records provides a meteoric touch of funk, which mainstream EDM so desperately needs. An infectious top line of funky male vocals, which in recent times, I’ve been more likely to hear in my mum’s 80′s and 90′s playlist than a beatport release, works flawlessly with the addictive melody. But far from being purely nostalgic, the song still packs a vibrant house feel in the solid drop, which truly completes this flawless outing for Dahlback that surely establishes him as one of the prides of the house scene in his raw diverse talent so masterfully applied in every production
