I’m a huge fan of a solid bootleg. Something about taking tracks that I know and love and blending them into a musical masterpiece that can stand just as well on it’s own is really fascinating to me. So here at Beathau5 we have taken particular notice of MAKJ, whose “Play That Funky Acid Whiteboy” mashup recently set music blogs from all over the net ablaze. DJ MAKJ, or MacKenzie Johnson, hails from San Luis Obispo, CA (dubbed the happiest place in America) and credits his time living abroad as a teenager in China for his unique insight and the momentum he has garnered. Since he returned to the US at the age of 17, he has played at countless universities, colleges and at notable venues across the country, from New York to San Francisco, as well as Macau, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. And one thing is for sure: this guy knows what’s up! His Soundcloud account is filled with incredible mashups that are bound to have a huge impact on dance floors here and abroad. Today he unleashed this mashup collaboration with LA Riots titled “Rattle The House”, a seamless fusion of Bingo Players’ “Rattle” and the vocal from “I’m In The House” by Steve Aoki featuring Zuper Blahq. I know you guys are going to enjoy this one! Make sure you check out his Soundcloud here for more mashup treats. xoxo
