In the spirit of our very successful Retro Fridays Segment created Beathau5′ own Aussie Editor, we bring you some jamz that may have fallen through the cracks over the last two years. Your correspondent from the Chi (Chicago) is filling in a genre we have neglected for quite a while, Hip Hop. If you’re one that enjoys hip hop in the right setting or just simply a good baseline, dope rhymes and cleaver lyricism then this is definitely for your, Retro Beatz just made your Retro Fridays that much better.
Disclaimer: I realize the fine line (and quite subjective) that a writer can walk when talking about hip hop. So before you bring out the red coats against me know this: I consider this genre under Pop for the simple reason that American radio stations would or are playing this at the time of this post. Although to be quite honest with you, if an American radio station played all these songs in one day… they’d be a hell of a lot cooler in my book (there is no cool radio station in my book). Because hip hop tunes are leaked out exponentially faster than EDM tunes due to marketing reasons, these tracks are not all guaranteed to be in 320 kbps. Regardless, “good music is good music all day” as Kanye West famously put it. So if you’re a fan of this genre, Listen to all four of these tracks and let us know what you think in the comments below.
Bring Me Down (Feat. Big Sean) – Mike Posner
Classical Music, Motivational Lyrics, filthy basslines; crank this sucker when you need to get pumped up, good speakers/headphones are a MUST.
Lucky Cunt (Feat. Big Sean) – Tinie Tempah
Listen for Tinie’s flow and how well he is able to keep up with the tempo along with the excellent percussion patterns, they’re damn catchy.
OJ (Feat. Fabolous & Jadakiss) – Young Yeezy
What you know about Champagne every night? Feel like a gangsta? Got some purp? This is for you.
Chain Music (Feat. Rick Ross) – Wale
Wale’s flow and swagger can’t be held down by this song. Chain So Big, Can’t Pop HIS Collar
